Emergency Preparedness
Emergency Operations Guide
The Seminary maintains an Emergency Operations Guide that informs the community about steps they can take in response to various emergencies such as a campus lockdown, severe weather, or active shooter incidents. We urge all PTS community members to take a few moments to review this information so they can be better prepared if such an incident occurs. The guide can be accessed on line at: Emergency-Guide-2017_final.pdf.
In addition to our Emergency Operations Guide, we have a bomb threat check list that is available to educate and guide anyone who may receive such a call. The check list is available at: Bomb Threat Call Report.
Please see our Fire Safety and Crime Prevention Education Library for additional emergency preparedness information.
Emergency Door Lock down Device
The Seminary wants to inform you about a new safety measure now in place in Stuart Hall. As part of our ongoing commitment to campus safety, we recently installed emergency door lock devices in every classroom. Each room now has a NIGHTLOCK Door Security Device, which allows faculty to secure doors quickly and effectively during emergencies. This proactive measure helps prepare for situations that require locking the door from inside. In an emergency—such as a lockdown or safety threat—the Seminary will send a text alert to all faculty, directing them to take refuge in place.
Using the NIGHTLOCK device to secure your classroom is simple. Just follow these steps:
- Locate the clean plastic container next to the bottom of your classroom door.
- Inside the container, you will find a red handle attached to the NIGHTLOCK Door Security Device.
- Insert the red handle into the designated slot on the door until it is securely anchored to the floor.

PTS Alert System
The Seminary uses the PTS Emergency Alert System to send immediate mass notifications to students and employees about any urgent threat to campus safety. These alerts reach you through multiple channels, including email, phone, splash screens on PTS-owned computers, and text messages.
The system automatically includes all PTS email accounts. To receive emergency messages on your mobile device (via text or voice), make sure your contact information is up to date in the system by visiting: Update Emergency Alert Contact Information.
Emergency Phones and AED locations
The Seminary has installed several Emergency Phones across campus to help the community quickly contact Public Safety. In addition to these phones, AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are available in Public Safety patrol cars and strategically placed around campus to support emergency medical treatment.
You can find AEDs at the following main campus locations: MacKay Lobby, Stuart Hall (2nd Floor), Library (1st Floor), Erdman Center Lobby, and the CRW fitness center.

Missing Student Confidential Contact
Students may designate a confidential contact person to be notified if campus officials determine the student is missing. Only authorized campus officials and law enforcement can access this contact information, and they will use it solely for a missing person investigation. You can access and update this voluntary election at any time via the Missing Student Contact.
