Beyond the Label of Pentecostalism: The Holy Spirit at Work in Many Spaces and Places

This conference examines the full diversity, complexity and evolution of pentecostalism and the African American religious experience seeking to explore existing and revolutionary manifestations of pentecostalism. We will explore the boundaries of pentecostalism and how it is infused in new places and new ways within traditional African American religious experience and African, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Latinx churches, and creative ministry expressions unexplored in the history of the independent sanctified church traditions, or mainline black churches that are not always included in Pentecostal discourse.
