Ross M. Allen
Ross M. Allen of Somerville, Massachusetts, is the founding managing director of The Narrative Project at The Christian Century. The Narrative Project trains scholars, community leaders, change agents, and local congregations to reclaim the story of American Christianity. This work is accomplished through media and participatory journalism trainings, editorial mentorship, and transformative storytelling events that move communities from passive consumption to action-oriented witness. Alongside his award-winning work with The Century, where he also serves as a contributing editor, Ross is a pastor in the United Church of Christ and Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), specializing in mergers/revitalization efforts and congregational transformation. He has written for Religion News Service and been published as a contributor to both Rest and Resilience: Following the Way of Jesus through Lent with Chalice Press and Christ’s Love (Re)Moves Borders with World Council of Churches Publications.
A graduate of the University of Chicago, he was an emerging theologian delegate to the most recent World Council of Churches General Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany. He has also served as a college campus minister, community organizer, congressional staffer, and co-founded a rural community development nonprofit in his hometown of Soldier, Kansas.
