Short Bio:
Hope Chang is a doctoral student researching constructive methods for Asian American feminist theologies and model minority subjectivity. Her most recent work combines womanist theoethics, critical Asian Americanist theory, and material religions to analyze the Asian American ballroom dancer as a site of theological and ethical life. This and other projects grow out of a life of wrestling with how theology touches the world and ecclesial life, first as a pastor’s kid in Korea, then as a church planter in New York City, and now as a qualitative scholar of race, gender, religion, and violence. Concurrently with her academic work, she is also a research fellow with The New Wine Collective, a thinktank for applied ecclesiology and technology. She resides in Princeton, dancing ballroom and bachata, caring for a tiny garden, and relishing the fleeting pleasure of her morning pour-over.
