2024 Alumni Service Awardee - Khristi Lauren Adams

2024 Alumni Council Service Awardee: Khristi Lauren Adams

MDiv 2008

Adams (MDiv 2008), an ordained Baptist minister and advocate for Black girlhood, received the Alumni Council Service Award at the alumni awards luncheon during Reunion 2024.

The award recognizes her wide-ranging ministry and leadership over the 16 years since she graduated from Princeton Seminary. For Adams, it is a celebration of the permission Seminary gave her to explore nontraditional ministry.

She has served as a writer, educator, spiritual life dean, and counselor to youth across churches, schools, and community centers. Her 2020 book, Parable of the Brown Girl, marked her emergence as a public theologian exploring the sacred lives of girls of color.

“Princeton Seminary gave me permission to engage in ministry in these nontraditional and unconventional ways,” she said. “The Seminary was a launching pad and it launched me to where I am today.”
