2023 Alumni Service Awardee - Sabrina Slater

Slater (MDiv 2014), pastor of Christ the King Fellowship in Spencer, New York, received the AAEC Service Award at the alumni awards luncheon during Reunion 2023.

The award honors her compassionate and creative leadership in a small congregation with an outsized impact. For Slater, ministry is about loving well and responding faithfully to the needs of her community.

Since graduating in 2015, she has led her ecumenical congregation in service projects ranging from raising over $10,000 for Ukraine to sustaining a decades-old food cupboard. A former higher education professional, she discovered her pastoral call was something she had always lived—just without the language.

“I was the last to get the memo,” she said. “But when I began ministry, I realized I’d been living this call all my life.”
