Yamada (MDiv 1995), a biblical scholar and executive leader in theological education, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award at the alumni awards luncheon during Reunion 2022.
The award recognizes his visionary leadership as executive director of The Association of Theological Schools and his scholarly contributions to feminist and cross-cultural biblical interpretation. Since earning his M.Div. and Ph.D. from Princeton Seminary, Yamada has been a tireless advocate for diversity, equity, and innovation in theological education.
He has served in leadership roles within the Society of Biblical Literature, the American Academy of Religion, and numerous scholarly and professional committees dedicated to uplifting underrepresented voices.
