Yamaguchi (MDiv 1998), pastor, professor, and denominational leader, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award during Reunion 2019.
The award honors his lifelong commitment to pastoral care, theological education, and missional leadership. After serving 11 years as executive presbyter of the Presbytery of Los Ranchos, Yamaguchi became dean of students at Fuller Theological Seminary in 2014 and later joined the faculty as assistant professor of pastoral theology.
His Doctor of Ministry from Claremont School of Theology focused on reimagining Presbyterian governance—not as corporate hierarchy, but as Spirit-led communities called to serve the world.
In 2025–26, Yamaguchi will continue his global leadership as a member of the Board of Trustees in Tokyo, Japan.
