González-Colón (MDiv 2007), a pastor, teacher, and community advocate, received the Alumni Council Service Award during Reunion 2019.
The award honors his holistic approach to ministry—combining education, environmental justice, and food equity with pastoral care. After a career in public education and church music, the events of 9/11 led him to pursue his MDiv at Princeton Seminary. He was ordained in 2007 and has since served congregations in Brooklyn and San Juan.
In Puerto Rico, he led post-Hurricane María relief efforts and partnered with farmers and rural communities to address food insecurity. Now serving as interim pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Newtown, González-Colón continues to focus on health, wellbeing, and spiritually grounded community transformation.
