Women in Church and Ministry Lecture: Dr. Traci West

Princeton Theological Seminary will host Dr. Traci West to lecture on “Solidarity and Defiant Spirituality: Africana Lessons on Ending Gender Violence” on April 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Theron Room of the Princeton Theological Seminary Library. This event is sponsored by the Center for Theology, Women, and Gender. The lecture will explore questions about the kind of approach that is needed for Christians to ethically engage in transnational Africana solidarity to end gender violence, especially the targeting of black lesbians in the U.S. and South Africa.

A time for Q&A and a reception will the follow the lecture. Both the lecture and the reception are free and open to the public.


Rev. Dr. Traci C. West is professor of Christian ethics and African American studies at Drew University Theological School. She is the author of Solidarity and Defiant Spirituality: Africana Lessons on Religion, Racism, and Ending Gender Violence (2019), Disruptive Christian Ethics: When Racism and Women’s Lives Matter (2006), Wounds of the Spirit: Black Women, Violence, and Resistance Ethics(1999), editor of Our Family Values: Same-sex Marriage and Religion, and author of many articles and book chapters on gender, racial, and sexual justice in religion and society.
