Anne Blakenship will present the 2019 Toyohiko Kagawa lecture on November 18 at 5:00 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the Mackay Campus Center at Princeton Theological Seminary. The topic will be The Adaptability of Christian Nationalism: American Protestants and Japanese Christianity, 1921-1941.” A reception will follow in the Main Lounge of the Mackay Campus Center.

Anne Blankenship is associate professor of religious studies at North Dakota State University. Her research investigates religious responses to injustice and relationships between national, racial, and religious identities. Blankenship’s first book, Christianity, Social Justice, and the Japanese American Incarceration during World War II, reveals how the injustice transformed Asian-American Christianity and challenged religious and racial boundaries in liberal American Christianity.
