What to do in Princeton This Summer: 5 Can't Miss Activities - Princeton Theological Seminary

#1. Walk the Princeton Nature Preserve – Herrontown Woods

Take in the natural beauty of Princeton’s first nature preserve with a walk or join the community who take care of the local flora and fauna. This 100-acre preserve boasts three miles of trails surrounded by 57 different tree species. The community is welcome to join events including, Gemma’s Gratitude Yoga class every Saturday morning from June to October in front of the Veblen House. Volunteers can also get hands-on experience in the botanical garden, at the Barden on Sundays around 10:30 am. Participants assist in the ongoing restoration and preservation of the Barden and Herrontown Woods.

#2. Pick Fresh Fruit and Celebrate the Summer Season – Terhune Orchards

Take part in celebrating this local sustainable orchard turning 50 in 2025 with their 50th Anniversary Community Celebration and Apple Day. Guests are welcome to enjoy live music and festival activities. Explore the farm during the rest of summer with fruit picking and kid-friendly events. Adults can relax and socialize in the Vineyard and Winery with wine tastings during the Winery Weekend Music Series and Sunset Sips and Sounds.

#3. Interact with the Princeton Community – Palmer Square Summer Events

You don’t have to go far to enjoy great music, food and drink with the local Princeton restaurants and businesses hosting events this summer. Square After Sunset invites people to enjoy art, shopping, live music, and games every Thursday. Bring your own blanket and listen to live music every Saturday during The Summer Music Series. Finally, spend time with the whole family during Movie Nights on the Green which will include kid-friendly movies in July and August.

#4. Take art Classes – Princeton University Art Museum

Join the Drawing Points of View from the Collections live art making classes to brush up on your painting skills. Other community events include a trip to the Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum on Juneteeth which will include live music, spoken-word and, theatrical performances amongst other activities. Princeton University Art Museum members can enjoy ongoing private events such as pre-views and artists demonstrations throughout the year.

#5. Enjoy a Farm Fresh Meal and – First Thursdays at the Farm

Hosted at The Farminary, Princeton Theological Seminary’s 21-acre sustainable farm, this series features scholars, activists, and artists being interviewed over dinner. On the first Thursday of the month, each guest speaker is paired with a world-class chef who prepares the evening’s meal with a portion of the produce coming straight from the farm.
