Rev. Dr. Khin Kyu Kyu is a distinguished professor in the Pastoral Theology Department, chaplain, and director of the Charis Care and Counseling Center at the Myanmar Institute of Theology, the largest seminary in Myanmar. She earned her Master of Christian Ministry (MACM) from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2004 and a Doctor of Ministry in Marriage and Family Counseling from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Palmer Theological Seminary) in 2007. Additionally, she completed the Clinical Pastoral Education first unit and three residency certificates at the Fairview CPE Center in Minnesota between 2013 and 2014.

With a profound passion for care and counseling, Dr. Khin Kyu Kyu has significantly contributed to MIT by introducing core and elective courses on care and counseling, including the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) course. Her notable achievement includes establishing the Charis Care and Counseling Center at MIT in 2024. She is particularly interested in Family Systems Theory, which she practices and teaches to both MIT students and various church and community leaders. Collaborating with Myanmar Initiative friends in Germany and the Association for Theological Education in Myanmar (ATEM), she has led ten chaplaincy seminars from 2010 to 2020.

Dr. Khin Kyu Kyu attended mission seminars at OMSC from 1995 to 1996 and participated in International Pastoral Care and Counseling Conferences in Rotorua, New Zealand, and San Francisco, USA. She has also made significant contributions through her ministry among the Lisu ethnic people, serving at the Lisu Bible School and the Lisu Baptist Convention for nearly 20 years. Her work includes extensive training on pre- and post-marital counseling, family counseling, and group counseling in various communities and churches throughout Myanmar. Currently, she is writing a handbook titled “How to Communicate Ourselves and Others Based on Family Systems Theory” for seminaries in Myanmar. Dr. Khin Kyu Kyu is of Lisu and Karen descent, is widowed with two grown sons, and is expecting her first grandson in May.
