International Exchange Program for Princeton Seminary Students

Princeton Theological Seminary has exchange programs with several international educational institutions through the Global Network for Theology, Religious, and Christian Studies, as well as agreements with other institutions across the globe. While all students are encouraged to study abroad during the academic year or academic semester, the applicant must follow the requirements as established in the Exchange Program Guidelines.

*If you are an international student interested in coming to Princeton Theological Seminary as part of our international exchange program, please see our information for international students.

Exchange Program Guidelines

  • Student must be a rising second year (middler) in one of our theological degree programs
  • GPA of 3.2 or above for the year prior to the semester/year of study abroad

Students whose GPA falls slightly below 3.2 should discuss their situation with their faculty advisor. An exception will be considered if:

  • The lower GPA is a result of a particular situation, such as health issues, etc.
  • The student has strong support from the faculty advisors, the dean of academic affairs
  • The student has a compelling academic reason for pursuing a particular program abroad

  • Seriousness of purpose and a clear reason for choosing the program abroad (500-word paper)
  • Approval from the associate dean of institutional diversity and Dean of Academic Affairs

Student disciplinary record may influence their eligibility for study abroad. Students who are on disciplinary or academic probation during the term in which they plan to study abroad are normally not eligible for an international exchange program through Princeton Theological Seminary.
