Olivia Bustion

Olivia Bustion is a systematic theologian and scholar of queer theology. Bustion holds a PhD in English from the University of Michigan and a PhD in theology from the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on pneumatology, collective agency, abolitionist world-making, and disability. She has published articles in the International Journal of Systematic Theology and the Journal of the American Academy of Religion. Bustion is currently working on two book projects. The first, tentatively titled Spirit: A Brief Systematic Theology, develops a new model of the Spirit from the insight that a close friendship — in all its messiness, through cycles of rupture and repair — is a plural person, an irreducible center of valuing and acting, in the same way that an individual person is an irreducible center of valuing and acting. The second, tentatively titled, Queer Theologies, Abolition Geographies, makes a theological case for the revolutionary pleasures of queer world-making.
