Centers
Betsey Stockton Center for Black Church Studies
The Betsey Stockton Center for Black Church Studies exists to highlight the theological and religious witness, which arises out of the African American and African Diaspora Christian experience. The center helps to prepare men and women for vocational ministry or scholarly pursuits shaped by a wider knowledge and deeper appreciation of black life within American and global Christianity.
Center for Asian American Christianity
The Center for Asian American Christianity at Princeton Theological Seminary seeks to be a rich and lively program that bears witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ, enriched by the distinctiveness and diversity of the Asian and Asian-American contexts.
Center for Barth Studies
The Center for Barth Studies exists to provide leading resources on the theology and legacy of Swiss Reformed theologian Karl Barth (1886–1968). The center hosts programs and events, provides research resources, and facilitates constructive theological conversation for engagement with the Christian theological tradition and its public significance today.
Center for Contemplative Leadership
The Center for Contemplative Leadership was established in 2022 to support leaders inside and outside of the church through contemplative practices ancient and modern, by offering training and resources for cultivating vision, resilience, and joy. We believe in the robust integration of deep spiritual roots with the wider work of liberative justice in the world, and lovingly create communities of trust and active listening for the Spirit together.
Overseas Ministries Study Center
The mission of the Overseas Ministries Study Center (OMSC) is to amplify the voices of the world Christian movement by supporting and promoting scholars and artists from Asia, Africa, and Latin America and diaspora communities. Founded in Ventnor, New Jersey, in 1922 by Marguerite and Ida Doane, OMSC carries on its legacy of fellowship and mission practice while embracing a newfound commitment to ecumenism, scholarship, and educational equity. OMSC serves as a hub for World Christianity scholars worldwide through residential study programs, public lectures, research grants, online certificate programs, and the highest circulating peer-reviewed journal in the field, the “International Bulletin of Mission Research.”
The Center for Theology, Women, and Gender (CTWG)
The Center for Theology, Women, and Gender (CTWG) was established to address issues related to the intersections of race, class, gender identity, and sexuality in church and society. Through conferences, coursework, and events, the Center shapes students, alumni, and church leaders to be change agents regarding the pressing issues of inequality facing our world. The Center for Theology, Women, and Gender is also home to the Women in Ministry Initiative (WIM) and two student groups—the Women’s Center, and GSAS (Gender and Sexuality Association for Seminarians).
Initiatives
Farminary
The Farminary is a place where theological education is integrated with small-scale regenerative agriculture to train faith leaders who are conversant in the areas of ecology, sustainability, and food justice.
Hispanic Summer Program
Princeton Seminary is a sponsor of the Hispanic Summer Program (HSP) which cultivates Latinx theological leaders. The program offers accredited graduate-level courses to master’s students on topics ranging from theology, history, liturgy, and pastoral care, all from a Latinx perspective. In addition to the annual summer session, HSP offers programs such as the Latinx Discernment Workshop, HSP J-Term, HSP Exchange, The Alumni Network, El Semillero Workshop on Development and Fundraising, and Through Hispanic Eyes.
Hispanic Theological Initiative
The Hispanic Theological Initiative (HTI) exists to create and nurture a community of Latina/o scholars to serve the academy and the church through the combined efforts of a consortium of member schools, including Princeton Theological Seminary.
Institute for Youth Ministry
The IYM initiates and integrates research related to the church’s mission with young people through offering programs, events, and resources for leadership development.
Iron Sharpening Iron
Iron Sharpening Iron equips women to embrace and build upon the capacities, agency and savvy they possess to negotiate challenging leadership contexts with a confidence born of competence.
Polaris Young Adult Leadership Network
The Polaris Young Adult Leadership Network cultivates relationships among young adults who are Christian leaders across the United States, amplifying the scope and impact of their leadership through relationships and resources.
Sustaining the Preaching Life
Sustaining the Preaching Life is a program that supports community for pastors through small groups for a period of six months and offers a framework and tools for improving one’s preaching through a blend of instruction and peer learning.
Visiting Scholars Program
The Seminary’s visiting scholar program is for individuals whose primary purpose for residence is to conduct independent research.
Women in Ministry Initiative
The Women in Ministry Initiative (WIM)—part of the Center for Theology, Women, and Gender at Princeton Theological Seminary—honors, celebrates, and remembers all women associated with Princeton Seminary since its founding.
