Concert organist Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler (Phoenix, Arizona) will present a program exploring the musical diversity of the Americas on May 24 in the Seminary Chapel. Organ works by African American, Mexican, and Brazilian composers will be interspersed with communal singing of hymns on which the compositions are based.
An active musician and educator in Arizona, Dr. Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler currently holds the position of the director of ministries in music and arts/organist at the Pinnacle Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. There she runs an active music program with multiple vocal and instrumental ensembles, the Pinnacle Concert Series, and plays the masterful Richards & Fowkes organ.
As a concert organist she explores connections between early and contemporary music, works of underrepresented composers from and outside of the Western canon, and improvisation. She has traveled extensively throughout Europe and both Americas as a soloist and ensemble player. Adler’s most exciting professional engagements happened at the Oude Kerk, Nieuwe Kerk, Orgelpark and Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam; the Sint Laurenskerk in Alkmaar; the Issue Project Room in New York; the “Right Brain Rising!” festival in Arizona; the “Musica Moderna” festival in Łódź; with the U.S. Air Force Strings at St. John’s Episcopal in Washington, DC, at the Göteborg International Organ Academy in Sweden; and Westfield Conference at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
She graduated from three conservatoria: Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland (MA), Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the Netherlands (MM), and Arizona State University in the US (DMA). She worked as an assistant professor of organ at the Academy of Music in Łódź, and as a research assistant at ASU.
Her 2015 solo album Antique Sound Palette, recorded on the recently restored 1719 Hildebrandt organ in Pasłęk, Poland, and recordings she made on the Richards & Fowkes organ at Pinnacle were featured on the American Public Radio. More details and recordings can be found on www.kubiaczyk.com.
She is a member of the Presbyterian Association of Musicians and the American Choral Directors Association, and serves as the Education Chair of the Central Arizona Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In her free time, she hikes, bikes, and enjoys yoga.
She is a happy mother of two sons. Ilona Kubiaczyk-Adler is exclusively represented by Concert Artist Cooperative.
