Dr. Choon-Leong Seow to lecture on “Asian Faces of Job”

April 12, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Seow-Choon-Leong

Princeton Theological Seminary is delighted to host Dr. Choon-Leong Seow for a public lecture on the ”Asian Faces of Job” on April 12 at 4:00 p.m. in the Theron Room of the Princeton Theological Seminary Library.

In this lecture, which was recently delivered as the Earl A. Pope Lecture in World Christianity at Lafayette College, Dr. Seow will discuss Asian, local Christian depictions of Job and their receptions of the Jobs they encounter (from the West, by Muslims, etc.). The former will include the indigenization of Job in popular culture as well as in modern contextual theologies (Minjung, Dalit, Filipino, reading Job in light of Buddhist views).

Dr. Seow taught for over three decades at Princeton Theological Seminary, the last two as the Henry Snyder Gehman Professor of Old Testament Language and Literature, before taking up his current position as the Buffington Cupples Distinguished Professor of Hebrew Bible at Vanderbilt University Divinity School.

Free and open to the public
