The Overseas Ministries Study Center (OMSC) celebrated its centenary anniversary on June 9, 2022. The occasion featured an open house at 58 Mercer Street, headquarters for OMSC, followed by the inaugural Gerald H. Anderson Lecture and a special celebratory dinner on campus, where Dr. Anderson’s 92nd birthday was honored.
Dr. Dana Robert, Boston University’s Truman Collins Professor of World Christianity and History of Mission and director of the Center for Global Christianity and Mission, delivered the inaugural Anderson Lecture. In “Gerald H. Anderson: Maestro of Contemporary Missions Studies,” Robert celebrated the centenary of OMSC and its accomplishments in ecumenically minded mission studies, along with the leadership of Dr. Gerald H. Anderson, one of OMSC’s previous directors and one of the most prominent mission studies scholars of the 20th century. Anderson served as director of OMSC for nearly 25 years, from 1976-2000.
