Music of the African American Worship Experience
featuring guest artist, William Nemon Heard, vocalist
hosted by the Association of Black Seminarians and the Seminary Chapel Office
Princeton Theological Seminary alumnus (’04, ’05) William Heard will sing the music of Black Church musicians including Albert Tindley, Lillian Bouknight, Margaret Douroux, Isaiah Jones, and Andraé Crouch. Heard will be joined by accompanists Don Corey Washington and Mina Choi as well as the Association of Black Seminarians’ Gospel Choir, under the direction of Otis Byrd, Jr., and the Princeton Seminary Chapel Choir, under the direction of Martin Tel. Come join us for this celebration of gospel music from the Black Church.
William Nemon Heard is a singer, songwriter, producer, author, ordained Christian minister, worship consultant, workshop clinician, pastoral counselor, and entrepreneur. His greatest love has been the diverse eclectic music of the African American worship experience. His voice has been heard in many parts of the world through the mediums of television, radio, and the digital realm. His singing ministry spans over five decades, and he has directed choirs and written and arranged sacred music for over 40 years. He served as the musical voice of “the Bethany Hour”, the international radio/tv ministry of the historic Bethany Baptist church of Brooklyn, New York. Heard ministers in venues from the church to national conferences and collaborative concerts and performance lectures showcasing diverse genres of sacred music. He was licensed and ordained by his father in ministry, the late Rev. Dr. William Augustus Jones Jr. at Bethany church and celebrates 30 years of preaching ministry this year.
