Established in 2019, the Prathia Hall lectureship is named in honor of Dr. Prathia Wynn Hall. Hall earned three degrees from Princeton Seminary: a Master of Divinity in 1982, a Master of Theology in 1984, and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1997 in which she graduated magna cum laude. An activist in the Civil Rights Movement and a leader in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, Hall was a womanist theologian, a social ethics professor, and one of the first women ordained in the American Baptist Association.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Lecture is held annually to address issues of racial and social justice. The Office of the President, the Association of Black Seminarians, and the Betsey Stockton Center for Black Church Studies collaborate on this event. The lectureship began in 1999.

The Geddes W. Hanson Lectureship is held in honor of Dr. Geddes Whitney Hanson, Charlotte W. Newcombe Professor of Congregational Ministry Emeritus. The lectureship’s objective is to bring to campus pastors, scholars, and others whose service to the church is focused on the ministry of African American congregations or other racial-ethnic minority communities. The Office of the President, the Association of Black Seminarians, and the Betsey Stockton Center for Black Church Studies collaborate on this event. The lectureship began in 2002.
