The public is invited to attend The Princeton Lectures on Youth, Church, and Culture, and worship services during The Forum. All lectures will be held in Stuart Hall, Room 6, and worship will take place in Miller Chapel.

Lecture I: “Moralistic Therapeutic Pietism”

Speaker: Dr. Amanda Drury, associate professor of practical theology, Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, Indiana
Drury is the author of Saying is Believing: The Necessity of Testimony in Adolescent Spiritual Formation (IVP Academic, 2015).

Wednesday, April 26

Lecture II: “Fearless Dialogues”
Time: 11:30 a.m.
Speaker: The Rev. Dr. Gregory C. Ellison II, associate professor of pastoral care and counseling, Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Decatur, Georgia
Ellison is the founder of Fearless Dialogues, a nonprofit grassroots initiative committed to creating spaces for unlikely partners to engage in hard, heartfelt conversations that see gifts in others, hear value in each others’ stories, and work for change and transformation in self and other. 

Thursday, April 27
Lecture III: “The Theological Turn in Youth Ministry”
Time: 7:15 p.m.
Speaker: Dr. Andrew Root, Olson Baalson Associate Professor of Youth and Family Ministry, Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota
Root is the principle leader of a $1.2-million John Templeton grant called Science for Youth Ministry. Most recently he has written Christopraxis: A Practical Theology of the Cross (Fortress Press, 2014), and Bonhoeffer as Youth Worker: A Theological Vision for Discipline and Life Together (Baker Academic, 2014).
