From Death to Resurrection: A Lenten Journey through the Old Testament
March 11, 18, 25, and April 1, 8, 2014

Series Overview

This series of five weekly Lenten Bible studies will focus on the six Sunday Old Testament texts from the Revised Common Lectionary for Lent 2014. These texts provide a survey of key moments in the biblical story as an essential complement to understanding the death and resurrection of Jesus in Holy Week. We will also put these OT texts into dialogue with the assigned Gospel texts for each Sunday.

  • In the Beginning: Temptation in the Garden
  • For All the Families of the Earth: The Blessing of Abraham
  • Out of Egypt, Out of Water: Water in the Wilderness
  • Seeing the Way God Sees: The Rise of King David
  • Old Bones Spring to Life! Hope in the Midst of Exile
  • Innocent But Declared Guilty: The Suffering Servant of God
