MicahKiel     Micah Kiel, a 2009 graduate, has received tenure at St. Ambrose University in Devenport, IA.  Kiel's most recent book, The Whole Truth: Rethinking Retribution in the Book of Tobit, was published in 2012.  In the Theology Department at St. Ambrose he teaches courses in both Old and New Testament. 
 Melody Knowles     Melody Knowles, 2001, has accepted a position as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Old Testament at Virginia Theological Seminary (VTS).  She will begin her work at VTS in February 2013.  Knowles has taught Old Testament at McCormick Seminary since 1999.
Junior    

Nyasha Junior, a 2008 graduate, and assistant professor of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament at the Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, D.C., is the recipient of a Lilly Faculty Fellowship for 2012-2013 from ATS. For more information about her publications, visit www.nyashajunior.com.

Jocelyn McWhirter    

Jocelyn McWhirter, a 2002 graduate, associate professor of religious studies at Albion College in Albion, Michigan, was recently named a Great Lakes Colleges Association Teagle Pedagogy Fellow.

Scott Sunquist    

Scott Sunquist, a 1990 graduate, accepted a position as dean of the School of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary.  He will begin the position in July 2012.

Laura Sweat    

Laura Sweat, a 2011 graduate, accepted the tenure-track position of assistant professor of Christian scripture at Seattle Pacific University. She teaches courses in scripture, particularly the gospels, and in Christian formation.

Daniel Pioske, a 2012 graduate, accepted a position as Post-Doctoral Fellow and Instructor in Biblical Languages at Union Theological Seminary in New York, NY.  He teaches courses in Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Greek.
Gabriel Vahanian


Ph.D. graduate Gabriel Vahanian died on August 30. He was an important figure in the “death of God” movement in the 1960s whose social critique, The Death of God: The Culture of Our Post-Christian Era helped name that movement. Read his obituary and a reflection.
